Art By Women Project

It’s a project I started in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic was just emerging and our lives were beginning to change and mold to a new way of life. There was a rampant political division brewing among my fellow Americans, an upcoming Presidential election, a growing uneasiness with the privileges of whiteness, and the unacceptable indignities that our black and brown brothers and sisters have had to endure in this Free America. All of this was happening against a backdrop of an enmeshed Me Too movement.

I felt unsure, insecure, angry, sad and needed a place where I could put these feelings and focus on tiny solutions that could maybe help raise others up. Art by Women Project is just getting starting. Recognizing that women artists, in particular, have had their voices and art underappreciated and undervalued. It’s a mission where there is no other purpose than to recognize working female-identifying artists, most especially black and brown queens.
