Meet Cyn

Cyn’s artwork explores the beauty found in the (im)perfect—a wabi-sabi Japanese principle—and the richness of a patina that emerges with the passage of time. In her work, perfectly imperfect is perfectly ok.

One deep breath, one mark made…then again and again.

Cyn embraces the Japanese practice of mushin no shin [ 無心の心 ] (sounds a bit like ma-sin no-sin) that is, to paint in a no-mind moment without overthinking. Another translation of mushin no shin is, mindless heart.

She hopes her artwork will spark joy and a shared connection between people and the spaces they love.

Perfectly Imperfect Wabi-Sabi Art by Cyn Macgregor

The mind must always be in the state of ‘flowing,”

…for when it stops anywhere that means the flow is interrupted and it is this interruption that is injurious to the well-being of the mind. —Takuan Sōhō
